So, What is PEMF Therapy?

How Does PEMF Work?

The PEMF device sends a pulsing electromagnetic field through the coil, deep into the body. As the electromagnetic field pulses, the cell membrane is gently pulled. On the off phase of the pulse, the cell membrane is relaxed. As the cells expand and relax, the cell membrane becomes more permeable, and is better able to release waste, toxins and inflammation and receive oxygen and nutrients. This receiving of oxygen and releasing of waste is what increases the natural charge of the cell. PEMF helps the body to optimize its own self-healing and self regulating properties. This cellular exercise is profoundly beneficial and unique to PEMF.

The presence of a visual pulsing of the muscles may suggest cells with low cellular function which may be caused by stress, injury, illness, or muscular imbalance. PEMF is not used to diagnose but it is a tool in the toolbox for any horse, human or pet.

PEMF ‘Cellular Exercise’ Explained (from Pulse Equine)
Healthy cells mean a healthy body.

Our living cells, and in fact, ALL living cells generate a natural electrical charge created by the movement of ions in and out of the cell membranes. Any challenge to the cell such as injury, toxicity or oxygen/nutrient deficiency alters ion movement and the charge of the cell membrane changes.
This altered charge profoundly affects the metabolism of the cell, hindering its ability to absorb oxygen and nutrition, release waste/toxins and ultimately results in loss of energy, pain, inflammation, swelling and disease.

The PEMF machine creates a series of pulsing electromagnetic fields that travel from the main unit through the loop. As the loop is placed on or over the body, the electromagnetic field pulses ON and OFF and makes a soft clicking sound.
As the electromagnetic field is pulsed ON, electrons are excited and the cells are expanded and “Exercised”. The electrically charged cell membrane is gently pulled by the pulsating electromagnetic field and the cell is “Recharged”. When the pulse is OFF, the cells relax. As cells Recharge themselves, they heal and return to optimal health.
This is profoundly beneficial ‘Cellular Exercise’ and cellular rehabilitation helps to increase blood flow to the area and increases the permeability of the cell wall. In doing so, nutrients and oxygen are readily absorbed, and proteins are more efficiently metabolized for use within the cell and surrounding tissues. This also means that damaging toxins and cellular waste can exit the cell more efficiently through the lymphatic (detox) system, reducing pain and inflammation and improving the overall healing capabilities.

PEMF Therapy optimizes cell function and enhances the bodies natural ability to heal itself.

Benefits of Laser Therapy for Horses

Picture
Springs Equine Performance Services is proud to offer advanced laser therapy using FDA-cleared Class 3b laser systems by Respond Systems, trusted by top equine therapists around the world.

Laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light (670nm, 808nm, and 904nm) to stimulate the body's natural healing response. It increases circulation, reduces inflammation, alleviates pain, and accelerates tissue repair at a cellular level—without drugs or side effects.

What Laser Therapy Helps Treat:
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Joint issues such as arthritis or stifle injuries
  • Back and pelvis problems such as SI pain
  • Wounds, swelling, skin infections (scratches), cellulitis
  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Relieves pain without medication
  • Reduces inflammation and swelling
  • Accelerates tissue repair and cell regeneration
  • Stimulates circulation and increases oxygen to damaged tissue
  • Promotes faster healing of muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints
  • Improves nerve function and reduces nerve pain
  • Increases joint flexibility and range of motion
  • Speeds recovery from soft tissue injuries
  • Minimizes scar tissue formation
  • Boosts immune response at the cellular level
  • Non-invasive and well-tolerated—even by sensitive horses
  • Safe and effective with no side effects or downtime
  • Reduces stiffness and supports relaxation of tight muscles
  • Versatile use—beneficial for both acute injuries and chronic conditions
